My blogging experience

My blogging experience has been an adventure. Once I had a blog when I was 16, I posted like 3 times and then I forgot the password, so it might still be lost in the huge ocean that internet has become.
On that occasion I wanted to post my own experiences and sad feelings that, I think, every adolescent has. But now, in this blog I’ve had the chance to talk about more general things, my likes and dislikes, my opinion about different topics and I can actually see how much I’ve grown since I made that first blog.
Now I see life from a whole new point of view because now I have so much more experience than I had before. I can see the bright side of life because I discovered that surviving adolescence is possible.
This has also been a great opportunity to improve my writing skills and how to express my self in order for others to understand me. Before this blog I had serious problems getting my head together when writing, but now I can say something without running in circles.
Anyway, I think that making a blog at school or university as an assignment is a very good idea. Its fun, it’s interesting, it helps you improve writing and technological skills but for me as a future teacher, the most important reason for doing it is that blogs help teachers to keep their students motivated. This is because you break the routine and take what is important and fun for kids nowadays. This is what critical education calls “recognizing students as subjects”, not denying their background and considering their external culture to teach the formal knowledge based on this.

Motivation

This post is about one of the biggest issues related to education: motivation.
As a future teacher, I recognize this topic as fundamental when you’re talking about teaching. this is because we all know that there are different influences in children's difficulties when they are learning (family issues, adolescent problems, mood, etc) but nobody can deny that one of the main responsibility of a teacher is to know how to motivate students to learn.
To captivate the students attention, to help them improve their self-stem, to considered them as people with a valuable opinion, are all ways to motivate children to keep fighting, to get better and not to give up just because they think they’re stupid of are too afraid of failure.

When I was at school I could see how different teachers applied this thing called motivation with my classmates and I. some didn’t even care, they thought that their only job was to stand in front of the class and “throw up” information as they were machines. Other were very interested in motivate us and made a huge effort, but the age, and external issues won the battle and those teachers end up giving up on us.

As you see, we have to faces of the coin, and the only reasonable way to go is not to go to the extremes in any position, to analyze the situation, to know the students and to study the variables that can lead them to lose every hope they can have in schools. And finally, to be creative, to innovate and be ready to break the rules or normal order, just to accomplish a most wonderful goal: student willing to do their best for their education and their future.

do schools kill the children's creativity?

Today I'll write about a very interesting conference I watched in ted.com
http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/ken_robinson_says_schools_kill_creativity.html

The person speaking is Sir Ken Robinson, who is very good at giving a speech (you can see he makes very funny jokes but also he makes the conference interesting)
Let me tell you that I completely agree with this man.
I believe that schools kill the imagination and creativity of very talented children. I feel so sad when I think in how many amazing, gifted people have waste a huge talent just because no one gave them the opportunity to express it.
Our social system ( political and economical) is focus on the efficiency and productivity of people, how they need to be prepared to get into the labor world since they are very little, and all the things that the government think are not important are left behind from the official curriculum.

Here in Chile is the same situation. our economical system rules the schools and ask them to teach the most important things a person needs to know to get into the university and to get a job (math, language, English, etc) and the arts are almost out of schools (or seeing as an extra class) because Chilean people think that you can’t make a living by working in something related to art (being a singer, an actor, a dancer etc)
As you can see, money is the most important issue here in my beloved country.

My school was a very good example of this situation. The school tough hundreds of children and the goal was to make them able to pass the PSU exam. They thought this exam was the only way to take children out of poverty. But it is? People who work in something related to art and are talented; actually make million of pesos compared to the ones who have a regular job.
So everyone is just going nuts, don’t you think?

Victory city

The city of tomorrow

I was looking arround a very nice page about a city called Victory city. It's aplan a guy had when he was like 13 years old, and when he grew up decided to make his idea public. this idea is just that, an idea. An uthopic dream that have never been applyed.
The whole design of the city seems perfect, good for people and for the enviroment. The thing is that even when most of the ideas are innovative and interesting, the proyect will be so good for people that the goverment won't consider it a good idea ( becouse is better for the goverment and economy that our life is expensive and difficult, more money for them)
if the city is perfect we might not need a goverment to command us, so It'snot crazy to think that they will opposed to this great idea.

I think that here in Chile the goverment gets so many benefits from the system we're living in (and also the power nations) that the system won't change too much.
I don't think we'll have a tecnological country like Japan, or flying cars like the cartoons showed us when we were kids.Maybe we will remain being like we are now.
don't think I'm a pessimistic person, I just think tht after getting to the year 2000 and not seeing more that fireworks, I lost my hopes in living in a very modern world, maybe my kids o grandkids will, but I really think I lost my chance.

Living alone

I strongly believe that living alone is a very important and necessary experience for young people because even when you get lots of freedom, you also get many obligations which are fully necessary to make yourself responsible. this time to survive and to have a comfortable life, not just to follow a command from your parents.
If you do want to have a nice life living on your own you need to learn how to use you money, because now you have to pay bills. Also you need to buy food, keep the house clean, (when you organize a party YOU have to do all the cleaning), and so many other responsibilities that you always ignored because most parents seems to have the talent to do it without you to notice.
Nobody says is easy, but wouldn’t you just love to leave your socks on the floor and that nobody tells you to pick them up?
But please my friend; don’t forget that living alone is not to be alone. You’ll always miss your mother’s soup. And also you’ll realize very soon that you want to call her to ask her how to fry an egg or how to use that evil washing machine.

My favourite movie!

Like you can see in the picture I’ll talk about one of my favorite movies of all times, “Trainspotting”. This is British film by Danny Boyle.
You might recognize the main actor, Ewan Mcgregor (as Mark Renton), who has stared a lot of famous movies like Star wars, Moulin Rouge, including the new movie based on Dan Brown’s book “Angels and Demons”
If you haven’t seen it, let me tell you a little bit about it:
This movie is about a Group of friends addicted to heroin in the earl’s ‘90. Mark is one of this young addicted who is trying to quit heroin, but he can’t because it seems that the entire world is helping him to continue and doesn’t let him run away. You can see how the government gives him a daily dosis, his parents don’t do a thing, and also his friends are all addicts.
This movie shows us a decadent world, full of violence, crimes, sex, perversion and actually, what young people lived on that time in Britain.

I like this movie for many reasons: the Accent is just gorgeous, the Plot is captivating, I like Ewan Mcgregor a lot, the soundtrack is perfect (I fully recommend the song “Perfect Day” by Lou Reed) and finally it is what I consider a “lost generation” icon, I mean, a classic for all the young people who as ever consider himself a scourge ignored by everyone around.

...Some kind of magic

Hello readers! This week I’ll write about my favorite song at the moment:
“I caught myself" by Paramore.
The first time I listened to this song was in the movie "Twilight" (which is one of my favorite books in the world) and I immediately felt in love with the movie soundtrack.
The movie didn't reach the magnificence of the book but at least the soundtrack gave the movie the emotions that the book gives you when you read it.
This particular song is special for me because Paramore has a style I like a lot. Have you ever notice that there is some music which can make your hair stands on end? That’s exactly what happens to me with this song.
So, if you don’t know this song here you have the lyrics, and if you want to listen to it just write "I caught myself" in the YouTube gadget I have below in my blog.
Hope you enjoy it, kisses!

I CAUGHT MYSELF (PARAMORE)
Down to you
You're pushing and pulling me down to you
But I dont know what I
Now when I caught myself, I had to stop myself
I'm saying something that I should have never thought
Now when I caught myself, I had to stop myself
I'm saying something that I should have never thought of you, of you

You're pushing and pulling me down to you
But I don't know what I want
No I don't know what I want

You got it, you got it
Some kind of magic
Hypnotic, hypnotic
You're leaving me breathless
I hate this, I hate this
You're not the one I believe in
With God as my witness

Now when I caught myself, I had to stop myself
I'm saying something that I should have never thought
Now when I caught myself, I had to stop myself
I'm saying something that I should have never thought of you, of you

You're pushing and pulling me down to you
But I don't know what I want
No I don't know what I want

Don't know what I want
But I know it's not you
Keep pushing and pulling me down
But I know in my heart it's not you

Now when I caught myself, I had to stop myself
I'm saying something that I should have never thought
Now when I caught myself, I had to stop myself
I'm saying something that I should have never thought of you
I knew, I know in my heart it's not you
I knew, But now I know what I want, I want, I want
Oh no, I should have never thought

Do you want to know me?

Hello! my name is Carla and I’m a young girl, 20 years old actually. I’m medium height and average build. I got long wavy dark hair and big almond brown eyes.
Talking about qualities I think I’m friendly, thoughtful, clever, imaginative, honest, generous, kind, optimistic and funny.

The kind of men I consider a good partner for me is a man who can be: sensitive, funny, honest, creative, clever, optimistic and thoughtful. And physically, medium height or tall, average build, dark-complexioned, long wavy hair, brown eyes and especially with a beard. I like dreadlocks and piercings also.

If you’re reading this and you’re bossy, careless, selfish, rude and impolite, please, don’t try to get in touch with me.

Good bye, kisses.

Adrian's post correction

Ok, this is a brief review of Carla's blog which in my opinion is fantastic.

Beggining(SP) with the name of the blog - Candyshop (Ingenious) - When I saw the name I inmediatly(SP) thought of Carla and her boyfriend selling candies in a shop (well decorated) in the beach, Guess why!(P) Haha yes It's one of her dreams. Also the background color is so her! She loves purple things... So girly even though she's not the kind of girl who loves wearing multicolor clothes LOL. Perhaps that’s why she chose Black as the color of the text on her blog… Yes Black and purple seem to be not that femenine(SP) haha, Don’t(sp) you think?

Another thing I like is that she has uplouded(SP) pictures related to the posts, isn’t it cool? In my opinión(P) this way a blog can be seen alive and not that boring and don’t get me wrong I’m not saying that her blog is drab because it is not at all!

Not everything is perfect in life, so I have to say the things I don’t like of her blog… Well actually there are not many stuff I don’t like about it BUT I would’ve liked that she had uplouded(SP) more gadgets such as a clock, calendar, games and so on… Yes I would’ve liked it better!

Well see you next time!

Adrián Guzmán.-

Adrian's blog

I just love his blog, it's amazing.
Have you seen his zebra layout? I really like it, I tried to do the same but it didn't work XD
The combination of colors hi used is just like him, he dresses the same way!
I think that it is important that the blog looks like the owner because when I see his blog it's like being talking to him.
Have you notice how good he writes? I hate him for this, because I have like a hundred mistakes but his blog looks like he was a native speaker.
the picture he uploaded for his first post it's so different from how he look now, so it's hard to believe that the person from the picture is actually my friend Adrian.
What I think he should do is to change the text color because gray gets lost on the black screen.
I don't believe in the subtitle he wrote for his blog, super boring? are you nuts?
addoland is fun XD I enjoy reading your posts and I think everyone thinks the same.
But maybe your lack of Self-esteem had something to do with the subtitle. I'm joking!!!
This is what I think about Adrian's blog, I hope he doesn't get mad for my jokes and I also fully recommend my friend's blog to you because, like I said, is really fun.

"We gave you a gun to protect us and the weapon you use you use it to steal from us"( hit me/molotov)

I am writing to complain about the poor quality of the Chilean police.

Cops are supposed to be the ones who will protect us. However they are the last ones to arrive when something bad happens. They are supposed to save our lives and protect our interest but if someone calls them it’s better for him to be prepared to wait at least for a couple of hours.

Although they swear to be there for the people, now we cannot even trust in them. We can see on the news that many cops are corrupt and only the ones with a low level in the institution go to jail.

I strongly believe that the government should take measures about this issue for the sake of all citizens. For example, to have a committee that investigates every one in the police department, not only privates and corporals, but also colonels and sergeants.

I hope that you look carefully into this situation, because this is for our own good.

Yours faithfully,

Carla Araneda

What I did on easter

Now that I'm older no one gives me chocolate eggs for easter, but I had a great time hidding them for my boyfriend's nephew. He was so happy when he found like a hundred eggs arround the house.
I was also happy because some of those eggs were made by my mother ( she's on the chocolate business) and a lot of people bought her chocolates for easter, including me, my boyfriend and almos all of his family and mine.
What I didn't know is that the eggs my boyfriend got were FOR ME! he gave me a hole box of chocolates that my own mother made. I fell like a child :)
finally a watched a lot of "passover" movies, while I ate chocolate eggs with my boyfriend and his nephew.
bye!

bbc webpage

I just have time to look 1 thing on this page, it was a link with pronunciation videos. you select a simbol and you could see the video with a woman pronouncing the word in the correct way and giving examples to make the difference between one sound and another.

I loved those videos. this year I'm having my first phonetics class and I actually don't know anything about it. I never learn that at school, so it really helped me to start practicing my pronounciation and also to recognize phonetic simbols.

I believe this is a very helpfull tool for learning pronounciation, you woul never lear how to pronounce a word just reading and memorazing the simbols. you need to listen to the sounds and also see who the mouth moves when you make that particular sound.

I fully recommend those videos. see ya!
